salon bleach nightmare

こんばんわー

I'm sorry it's been awhile since I last posted...

For all of you out there who have had a bad hair coloring experience, I know how awful it can feel when something goes really wrong.

Because I have black asian hair and coloring it light is such a difficult thing to do, I've only really colored it different shades of dark/medium brown, nothing too extreme. After seeing countless pictures of pastel hair, I finally decided to begin the journey to have my hair become a platinum blonde. At first I thought that I could try attempting an at-home bleaching job, but I didn't want to risk losing all of my hair by accident. So I saved up about $300 and drove to a salon 3.5 hours from where I live.

This was the biggest mistake I've ever made.

Long story short, the woman doing my hair decided that it would be okay to do what I knew would take at least a couple visits (with weeks in between them) to bleach my hair from dark brown to a silvery, white blonde. By the time she finished bleaching, toning, and coloring the heck out of my hair, she braided my hair gingerly and sent me out with a wet, unbrushed mess of grey/white/blonde/brassy hair. Sadly, I didn't realize that the reason she couldn't brush it or dry it was because it was melted. By using so many chemicals and extreme heat on my hair all in one day, it ended up a gummy/melted texture that came out in handfuls when I got home.

I'm sorry ー I know that these pictures are really gross.
You can see though how bad the damage was to my hair  (´ヘ`;)

What upset me the most (aside from my hair being ruined), was that the professional stylist who did my hair tried to hide the fact that she made a mistake. In the end and after a ton of phone calls and another 3.5 hour drive to the salon, I received a partial refund and a hair cut, because the damage was so bad that the only option was to cut it to above my shoulders.

... so that's my story! If you have any questions feel free to ask! I know it's hard going through a bad dye session and can totally sympathize.
